In case you haven’t been following along in the BI Forum thread, I released a few new versions past 2.0 of my Paddle Mod for Arma 3 trying to track down some problems and adding a new feature (paddling sideways)!
Hopefully this new version works well in most/all situations. Zeus is a pain in my ass. 🙂
After tons of play testing, tweaking and hair pulling, I’ve finally released version 2.0 of my Paddle Mod. For those who don’t know, it’s a modification of the Arma 3 assault boats and similar giving them tons of new features.
This addon will allow you to paddle forward and backward as well as turning the boat in place. It will improve the effectiveness of the rudder, will increase the engine power slightly and will allow you to enable and disable a kill switch for the engine so that when the engine is disabled you can steer while paddling. You can also use ropes with the boat for towing purposes and landmarking. You can also camouflage your boat using bushes found nearby.
NEW FEATURES (VER 2.0):
In-game key menu (config addons) – CBA is now required
Throw and retrieve ropes
Shorten or lengthen ropes
Attach ropes to other boats
Pick up and move ropes to drag boat
Camouflage your boat mini-game
Move from driver seat to cargo seat and back
GENERAL FEATURES:
Adds the ability to paddle forward and backward
Adds the ability to paddle to a stop
Adds the ability to paddle in a circle left or right in small degree increments
Adds a kill switch to the motor which can be enabled or disabled
Increases the rudder effectiveness of the base CRRC and similar Zodiacs
Increases the engine power of the base CRRC and similar Zodiacs

After a few months off while Arma wasn’t running on my computer (after a hardware upgrade), I am back to work editing code and trying out new ideas.
In this video, you’ll see a few different things I’m working on:
-Arma dog
-M900 doors working correctly
-M900 accurate startup sequence and rotor brake
-Ground handling for helicopters
-Underwater salvage operations
-RQ-11B Raven Update
-Climbing with ropes
All of these addons and ideas are still works in progress. The Raven is pretty much done barring a few more tests.
In case you’ve been under a rock recently, Alien Isolation is one of the best new games that came out this year. Because it’s such a slow game, you can really crank up the visuals.
On that front, a few enterprising modders have unlocked a lot of the “hidden” tweaks of the game. A great modification of the setup menu is here:
Another great new thing that just came out from NVidia is the ability to use Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) with cars outside of the brand-new 900 series. So I just got a 780 TI and DSR is available for me. So in this video, I demonstrate tweaked graphics and playing at 4x my normal 1080p resolution. FPS was around the 60s. The mouse worked a little strangely, very overly smooth, but wasn’t bad at all. Let me know what you think! I don’t usually do playthroughs as I think there are plenty of people doing that already. But if you want to see me do more, let me know.
